Office Air Conditioning System Upgrade
The upgrade involved the removal of an old ducted system with one
temperature control point.
The problems with the existing system were lack of appropriate
temperature control and changing heat load in the different rooms.
Some rooms were used at different times with different requirements,
and staff also had their own personal requirements.
We replaced the system with the multi-headed Toshiba inverter
units and a filtered fresh air system.
The advantages of upgrading were :
- Staff can set the temperatures to their own comfort level and
turn the units off and on as they wish
- With two indoor units to one large room, temperatures can be
set differently to suit the staff
- Significantly lower running costs
Kiwifruit Pre-Cooler
The upgrade became necessary as the existing controls had been
come unreliable, the liquid line had suffered damage due to liquid
hammer, and defrosting was via a time clock.
We upgraded the system :
- With a smart programmable controller, controlling the head
pressure and suction
- By changing the defrost to a demand system, so when the system
is working hard, it has more defrosts, and when in storage mode
has less defrosts
- By removing the liquid hammer on the liquid line, ending the
damage to the pipe work
The advantages of upgrading were :
- On initial start up, the room comes down to temperature much
faster and cycles sooner
- The system has better monitoring
- Rooms are not only more reliable, but also more efficient
Kiwifruit Cool Room
The existing room had a history of being hard to control and defrosting
problems.
We upgraded the system by mounting the condenser outside, and
replacing the suction pipes to the compressors and filters.
A smart programmable controller with a radio link to another site
for monitoring was added.
The system has since run much more reliably with a demand defrost
system, and only runs on one compressor for most of the time giving
smoother temperature control, not to mention reduced energy consumption.
